Well, this can happen for many reasons. One of them is a tax inversion. But what are tax inversions, why are companies doing them and why should you care? Here’s the reason why. U.S. companies pay corporate tax rates of around 35 percent or more on their profits, while their foreign competitors pay much less in their countries. And if your company has locations or sells products in overseas, you get taxed on those profits in the foreign country and again when you bring that money back to the United States. This is called double taxation and your foreign competitors don’t have to pay it. This hurts your company’s ability to compete, grow and reinvest in new products and jobs. Hmmmm…now that doesn’t make sense. So, back to the tax inversion. If you’re a company based in the US and want to make sure you stay competitive with your foreign counterparts, and protect your company from foreign takeovers, what can you do? The current U.S. tax system allows you to buy a foreign company and use their headquarters as your own. That way you don’t have to pay the higher U.S. tax rates on foreign profits even though you still pay U.S. taxes on your profits in America. This move allows you to keep a lot more of your profits and invest in new factories, employees, and products. Look at it this way: Let’s say you lived in one city but commuted to another. If the rules were set-up so you were taxed by both cities on your income—essentially double taxation—you would probably consider moving to the city with the lower tax rates. It wouldn’t mean you were greedy, or disloyal—you would simply be working within the system of rules that exists. Now…that makes sense. So the next time you hear a politician complaining about American companies moving overseas, remember it was politicians who passed the laws that encourage companies to move away in the first place. If politicians would stop fighting with each other, lower corporate tax rates and end double taxation, U.S. companies could compete better and wouldn’t need to invert to protect jobs and their businesses.

Aug. 9 -- Uber found out what many other U.S. tech companies realized long ago: China is an alluring trap. Most American web companies including Google, Facebook and Amazon are either banned from China or have flopped there. And their odds of success are only getting slimmer. Bloomberg Gadfly's Shira Ovide explains why it might be time for U.S. web companies to permanently give up on China.

On Monday, US officials said the U.S. Department of Commerce has banned American companies from selling components to leading Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE. The action could be devastating to ZTE since American companies are estimated to provide up to 30 percent of the components used in ZTE’s equipment. The ban is the result of ZTE’s failure to comply with an agreement with the U.S. government after it pleaded guilty to conspiring to violate U.S. sanctions by illegally shipping U.S. goods and technology to Iran. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/topNews/~3/-cykKnRQdH4/u-s-bans-american-companies-from-selling-to-chinas-zte-idUSKBN1HN1P1 http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

The 10 most hated companies in the United States. FB for daily news: http://www.facebook.com/thedailyconversation http://www.twitter.com/thedailyconvo Subscribe to TDC: https://www.youtube.com/TheDailyConversation/ Source: https://yhoo.it/2jzCvjq Researched, written, narrated and produced by Bryce Plank Video editing and effects by Robin West Music: "Rollin Back" by MK2 in the YouTube Audio Library Script: These are the least popular companies in America. The rankings, done by 24/7 Wall St., are based on survey results from the American Customer Satisfaction Index and employee reviews on the website Glassdoor. 10. Sprint Number ten is Sprint, whose customers are the least satisfied of any company in the wireless industry. More than half of Sprint users reported a bad customer service experience. It also doesn’t help that Sprint’s service lags behind Verizon and AT&T. 9. Sears Fewer than one in three Sears employees would recommend a job with the company to a friend, and the department store has almost the lowest customer rating of any business in its industry. A rapidly changing retail landscape has seen shoppers move online, dooming brands like Sears. 8. Dish Network Forty-seven percent of those surveyed said they had a negative customer service experience with DISH Network. Those bad vibes are felt by DISH employees, who are among the least satisfied of any major company. 7. Spirit Airlines If you’ve ever flown Spirit, you know why the company makes this list. Prioritizing budget fares means there’s not much focus on customer service, which helped the company rise. But when it’s rivals began matching it’s low ticket prices, much of Spirit’s competitive edge was lost. 6. Facebook Facebook is one of those companies that’s either loved or hated. Yes, it’s probably the company with the most customers, if you can call it’s free users that, but it has also been frequently criticized for changes to its website, privacy policies, the mass data collection of its users, and for enabling a massively damaging fake news outbreak that swayed the 2016 election. 5. Wells Fargo News broke in 2016 that Wells Fargo’s employees - under pressure to hit aggressive sales quotas - created millions of fake credit card accounts. The fallout was swift. The CEO eventually stepped down after being called before Congress, and the company fell from its spot as the world’s largest bank. 4. McDonald’s McDonald’s has the worst customer service rating of it’s 17 closest competitors in the American fast food industry. It also took heat when its ex-CEO Don Thompson came out against the call for a $15 national minimum wage. Still, with tens of millions of loyal customers who love the brand, McDonald’s is stronger than ever. 3. Mylan Pharmaceutical giant Mylan became a pariah for idiotically jacking up the price of its life-saving EpiPen by 500%. The move quickly backfired, and today the company’s stock price is down nearly 50% from its 2015 high. A $465 million settlement with the U.S. Justice Dept. has also been damaging. 2. Bank of America Bank of America has the worst customer satisfaction of any bank. It also has unhappy employees, settling with more than 700 of them in 2013 over allegations of racial and gender discrimination. BofA is still hated by many for its role in the 2007-2008 financial crisis it helped cause with its exploitative mortgage and toxic securities practices. 1. Comcast And the most hated company in America is Comcast. Nearly 55% of survey respondents reported a negative experience with the company. While it’s hard serving customers in both the internet and television service industries, the two sectors that have the worst satisfaction scores, Comcast manages to do it so much worse than everyone else. It doesn’t seem to matter though, as its share price continues to grow, up 30% from this time last year.

Students and educators were gunned down at their school in Parkland, Florida, two weeks ago, and corporate America is responding. Kroger announced that stores will no longer sell firearms and ammunition to buyers under 21, joining Walmart and Dick's this week in restricting sales of various items. Economics correspondent Paul Solman reports other companies are distancing themselves from the NRA.
